About Ankerwycke
Ankerwycke Candles began in 2020, after I treated myself to some wax melts for the first time. I loved the idea of filling my home with fragrance, but the experience itself was disappointing — the scent was overpowering, the melts arrived broken and the packaging left a lot to be desired. I found myself thinking, I wonder if I could do this differently?
So I gave it a go.
What started at home as a hobby gradually grew into Ankerwycke Candles — a small independent business, run entirely by me from my home workshop in Surrey. Every candle, wax melt and home fragrance product is handmade in small batches, with care given not just to the fragrance, but to the whole experience of receiving and enjoying it.
The name Ankerwycke comes from the Ankerwycke Yew, an ancient tree close to home. It became something of a safe place for me during 2020 and remains somewhere I visit often, so when it came to naming the business, Ankerwycke felt naturally connected to what I was creating.
Sustainability has always been important to me. I use natural soy waxes, luxury fragrance oils, eco wicks and biodegradable glitters, alongside recyclable materials and packaging wherever possible. I want each collection to feel considered rather than simply offering more for the sake of more.
After taking some time away, I'm relaunching Ankerwycke with a new look and a slightly different approach: smaller, carefully curated collections and new fragrances that I'm genuinely excited to share. The Autumn Edit is the beginning of that next chapter.
More than anything, I want Ankerwycke products to feel like an experience — from opening the package and discovering the fragrance to lighting a candle at the end of the day and simply enjoying your home.
